When the FELLOWSHIP of the PARKS Church was looking to expand its facilities with an addition to the building to add more clearance and circulation through the main lobby, they wanted lighting with a more modern feel, for the younger crowd in the growing and youthful community of Northlake, TX. To achieve this, they worked with architect Jacob Scoggins, AIA, from the firm Gaylen Howard Laing Architect, Inc. PureEdge Lighting's Lazer Line Lens was chosen to feature in the entry way.

Scoggins explains, "It's kind of like this steel canopy as you walk in with exposed steel members, and we wanted it to look sort of dynamic before you hit the main lobby/foyer area. I like a good light fixture. And so lighting can complement architecture in various different ways. But we wanted something that was fun, unique and dynamic, and it can be kind of hard to get that in a cost effective one but in a way that fills a space."

Lazer Line Lens is a Direct and/or Indirect LED Lighting System that provides general illumination for architectural applications. Slim Turnbuckles and anchors can be mounted wall to wall or ceiling to floor or ceiling to wall. Turnbuckles allow Lazer Line Lens to be positioned 0-90° relative to the mounting surface, creating a 3-dimensional look that is as functional as it is visually interesting. Feed power from one or both ends for longer lengths. Mounts to standard 4" square junction box with round plaster ring. Paint canopy to blend into the surface for a seamless look. Lazer Line Lens is a 0.6" wide stainless steel channel that spans opposing surfaces. The field-cuttable channel allows continual lengths up to 60' with power feeds at each end.

Scoggins continues, "We wanted something that was fun for the growing church. And so Lazer Line seemed like a great fit and, a little bit on the cutting-edge side. And I think it was successful and we were excited about it. What was really cool about Lazer Line is it comes in RGB and just the static white. And we want both options because, especially like with the church, they’ll do Christmas, Halloween events, Valentines Day, things to bring families in to the church, but also on the passer by, the vehicles on the main road were able to see the lights so that we could, change colors with the different times of the year. And it kind of fits the vibes. And when they do those youth gatherings, they'll have them changing colors that it's kind of fun for them."

Scoggins concludes, "There's nothing like the Lazer Line, but I like PureEdge products in general, in quality and the support provided. They offer forward leaning design approaches to things".

Since completion of this project, Scoggins has gone on to become the Principal of his own architecture firm, Architecture Underground, Inc.
