Edge Lighting Earns Recognition in Next Generation Luminaires

For the third year in a row, PureEdge Lighting, a Chicago-based lighting manufacturer, has gained recognition in the Next Generation Luminaires competition, created to recognize and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED commercial lighting luminaires.

PureEdge Lighting is a 2012 Recognized Winner in the Next Generation Luminaires competition for its Soft Line Commercial Grade LED System.

Soft Line is an indirect lighting installation that can use white, RGB or both versions of LED Soft Strip to provide soft, ambient, indirect illumination for decorative and architectural applications.

For compact shipment and storage, Soft Line coils like a retractable tape measure. When uncoiled, the Soft Line becomes a 1.25" wide cupped aluminum channel that can be mounted on any angle between opposing wall, ceiling or floor surfaces in lengths up to 40 feet. This cupped form contributes to the luminaires' structural rigidity, acts as a heatsink, and also shields the LED light source and related wiring from view.

Using multiple runs of Soft Lines in varying lengths and angles creates a three-dimensional look that is as functional as it is visually interesting.

"[Soft Line] changes the rules of residential lighting for both the lighting designer and the DIY home owner," said Terry McGowan, Director of Engineering and Technology for the American Lighting Association.

A total of 187 products were proposed for submission to the 2012 NGL indoor competition. But because of the stringent documentation requirements - which were even stricter than they were last year - only 114 actually made it to the judging phase. The 114 products that were judged represented 43 different manufacturers. Of those products, 53 were chosen as "recognized" winners.

Last year, PureEdge Lighting was a Next Generation Luminaires winner for their Sun3 LED Uplight/Steplight, Port LED Uplight/Steplight and the Taos LED Indoor/Outdoor Wall Sconce.
